Changes in body weight and food consumption in male and female rats during 90 days of exposure to the maleic acid polymer scale inhibitor. (n = 20, 10 male and 10 female). The Shapiro–Wilk test was used to assess normality, and Bartlett’s test was used to assess homogeneity of variance. Dunnett’s test was used in the case of homoscedasticity and a normal distribution, and the Wilcoxon rank–sum test was used in the case of heteroscedasticity or a skewed distribution for statistical analysis comparing with the control group. Significance was determined at p < 0.001***, p < 0.01** and p < 0.05*
