Toxic risk by organic chemicals for crustaceans and algae in mountain lakes. TUs calculated from water concentrations stated in various studies (Table 1, except Machate et al. [19]) investigating the chemical pollution of mountain lakes from different parts of the world. “Mixture” displays the predicted mixture toxic risk of all compounds that have been measured at a given site (∑TUs). Below, the individual toxic risks caused by each individual compound is displayed (TU) and they were sorted according to their median TUs (increasing from bottom to top). Thresholds for chronic and acute toxic risk are displayed in the form of a dashed and solid grey line, respectively
