Omission

The substance is removed without replacement from the product or process, which continues to fulfil the same function

Substitution

The substance is replaced by another substance without affecting the product or process

Termination of use

The use of the product or process is permanently stopped

End of life cycle

The substance was contained or used in a durable product that has reached the end of its service life and is therefore being decommissioned

Change of technology

The substance is not used any longer because a more advanced technology is introduced
