Correlogram for all fish species sampled in 2020 (catfish excluded as an outlier) and the five model HOCs, with Spearman correlation coefficients ρ (displayed numbers) for selected parameters. Correlation coefficients ranged from 1 to − 1, indicating a perfect positive correlation between two parameters at a value of 1 and a perfect negative correlation at − 1. A correlation coefficient of 0 indicates no correlation. Non-statistically significant correlations (p value > 0.05) are left with an empty field. Concentrations refer to the five model compounds shown in Fig. 2
