Dotted black lines show the empirically measured median and gray ribbons and dotted gray lines the upper and lower 2.5th percentile of these. Only the lowest (realistic) and highest (worst-case) tested application rates are presented here. The lowest rates tested were in the same range (broad spectrum herbicide RoundUp®) or higher (selective herbicide Monitor®) than the rates that would be applicable to the risk assessment considering European standard drift rates. The results for these test rates are presented to deliver a more realistic picture. Results for the whole range of tested application rates can be found in Additional file 1: Appendix E
